9-11 Was an Inside Job
When four planes crashed on September 11, 2001, the course of history was inalterably changed. The disasters of September 11, 2001 hit the American public in the gut, we had no idea where or from which direction the blow was stricken. This year, on the ninth anniversary, StopDriving.org will hold a 4-day boycott of fossil fuels. We implore you to take action with us and respond by joining our fight and to show our dismay and anger of the detestable actions against our nation.

Cynthia McKinney, the 2008 Green Party candidate for president, will lead “Bike For Peace 2010″, a bike ride across America that will take place from July to September. Details from the website: http://www.b4p.bbnow.org/ |

Poverty is NOT a Crime - No More Curfew in Muwekma Park
Who owns Muwekma Park?
The University of California claims ownership of the park. Decisions and policies of the University are made by an undemocratic governing body known as the UC Board of Regents. This group of ruling class scum, along with being war profiteers, have been attempting to privatize public education in California. Democratize the Regents!
The Ohlone People, despite never being federally recognized, are the original and rightful owners of People’s Park. We the tree-sitters feel that this lack of federal recognition is the most recent example of government sponsored ethnic cleansing against the indigenous people of North America.
Muwekma Park has been instrumental in providing food, clothes, and shelter for homeless and low-income working class people. Food Not Bombs has been serving food in the Park every business day for 15 straight years.
Stop the criminalization of the poor and homeless! With two imperial wars, trillions of dollars in bail-outs, and massive amounts of home foreclosures - the real criminals are the ruling class. We the tree-sitters intend to challenge the University over the 10 pm curfew. The Tuk-Pikuni(tree-people) have been sitting in the trees for 100 days to make sure the park remains a resource to provide for the material needs of the poor and homeless that call Muwekma Park home. We will not let UC Berkeley redevelop the park and no more 10pm curfew! Donations for the tree sit can be sent to Zachary Running Wolf- 542 25th Street, Apt. 209Oakland, California 94612 - or call at 510-878-8427.

Only in the California Injustice system, where killer cops spend the least possible amount of time in prison and activists are charged with the most absurd crimes, do we find a tree-sitter in jail for self-defense. Midnight Matt was in court yesterday, Feb 2nd, for defending himself from an attack while tree-sitting in People's(aka Muwekma) Park. Having been originally charged with attempted murder by UCPD(glorified security guards with weapons) , Matt's charges were reduced to assault with a deadly weapon, and the even more ridiculous laser pointer charge was completely dropped. The judge and court system have been mentally trying to break Matt, yesterday they kept him in the courtroom all afternoon until 5 pm, which lead to his contingent of supporters, originally 20 people, to dwindle down to 12 when his case was finally heard.
The judge treated Matt similar on the day of his arraignment. Midnight Matt's next court date is Feb. 17th at 9 am - Wiley Manuel Courthouse Dept. 115, 660 Washington St. Downtown Oakland. If possible please come down and support Matt as he goes through what is clearly another in a long line of bogus charges against activists. His bail is currently $100,000, if you would like to make a donation to help bail him out of prison please contact Zachary Running Wolf 510-878-8427. Thank you! The Muwekma Park tree-sit lasted a total of 90 days. The tree-sitters feel that this direct action helped to temporarily save the park from the greedy UC Board of Regents and their plans for redevelopment. More direct action will be needed in the future to make sure that People's Park remains a resource for the poor and homeless population of the East Bay. Muwekma Power! Peoples Power!
